Barbour.

Lovers of high quality outdoor clothing in the South rejoice!  Barbour, the world renowned makers of weatherproof clothing, have just opened 2 more stores, the first in Canary Wharf and the second at Bicester Village.

This year the family owned business celebrates it’s 120th birthday, and these new stores show that demand for their clothing is stronger than ever.

REshoot

REcently I was asked to help Corbridge based shop RE update their website, which I was happy do do.  For those who don’t already know RE is a wonderful place full of everything thing from beautiful vintage French glasswear to Mexican papier mache skulls via tea cosys and candles.  Along with their store in a converted workshop in Northumberland they have a concession in Liberty’s, London and their products regularly featured in the pages of the fashion press.

Below are a photos from the day.

…. Happy New Year!

Ok, so this isn’t the first post of the year but it the first post of NYE related photos.  Here’s a couple of my favourite pics from the 2012 new years eve parade in Newcastle, and one of the fireworks, because who doesn’t like fireworks?

Navaho Coffee

A very different shoot from the one in the previous post was for a local independent coffee shop on it’s opening day.  Navaho Coffee opened it’s doors recently to serve the thousands of workers on the UK’s largest office park (Cobalt Business Park).

Akzo Nobel

It’s always nice to pick up a new client, but especially so when that client is a large multinational company.

Recently I was approached by Akzo Nobel to shoot a member of staff at his office for use in an advert to be shown worldwide, following their strict corporate guidelines.  As you can see from the finished advert below it worked out ok, and hopefully there will be many more shoots to follow.

Studio.

Now that I finally had a little time to sit and work in the studio, over the Xmas and New Year period, I thought I should share what my space looks like with you all.

Located in a beautifully converted old church just 1.5 miles from the very centre of Newcastle my personal studio space is approx 90ftsq, with access to a larger hireable studio.

The hire space is approx 430 ftsq and includes a scoop over 16ft high.

Other facilities include a fully equipped modern kitchen and secure parking.

Reluctant Hero

Back at the start of the year on a very cold and windy Northumberland beach we shot a Spring/Summer campaign for ‘Reluctant Hero’, a clothing brand based between Manchester and Newcastle.

Unbelievably, the day before the shoot we scouted the locations in a blizzard! Just goes to show what a difference a day makes, as well as some careful cropping out of the patches of snow still on the ground.

Great North Swim

The UKs biggest open water swim at took place at the end of June in the chilly waters of Lake Windermere.  Although problems due to the terrible weather forced the cancellation of the first 2 days of racing for safety reasons, the mood on the final day was still certainly better than the weather.

Here’s a handful of the shots of the brave competitors taken from both land and from speedboat.

RASKL Design Group

Recently I was commissioned by bespoke furniture designers RASKL to photograph their latest series of the popular Agranda Bench, both in situ and in the studio.

And yes, that is a real cat.

Fine Dining

I always enjoy a trip to London for a job, especially when you know that when you get there you’re going to eat like a king.  A recent commission for the Malmasion and Hotel du Vin hotel group was certainly  no exception.  Shooting at both the luxurious Malmaison hotel in Charterhouse Square and the nearby fantastic ‘Bisto du Vin‘ restaurant was a pleasure, not only to be working with such a great team there but also because we got to eat the amazing food once we had finished photographing it.
